Fuel consumption in crisis stricken Portugal is dropping. In February, sales of car fuel showed a reduction of 7.2%, according to the National Energy Agency.

At the same time, fuel prices have been rising, thus making fuel supply difficult for many families that have lost purchasing power due to rising unemployment and reduced wages.
