In response to WWF’s criticism on the lack of transparency in planning for this project, the Ministry set up a public consultation committee, with the participation of WWF Greece. Positive parts of the draft law include the clear reference to a) the EU's commitments to promote renewables and b) to the development of new grids for renewable energy exchange among EU countries. On the contrary, serious concerns arise from the “fast track” licensing procedures that will be followed, and particularly the provision for imposing penalties on the officials that will not issue the required permits within the impossible timeframe of 10(!) days.
